SEO for roofers

Some roof searches are much easier to win than others. We start there and work up.

Which searches should a roofer chase?

Start with the searches that name the work but not a suburb: roof repairs, roof replacement, metal roofing.

Each kind of work gets its own page, and some are far quicker to rank than others. That decides what we build first.

The three numbers that set the plan:

  • there are 64,110 of those searches every month. No suburb in the search means your location doesn't decide who ranks

  • 41 of every 100 metal roofing searches are that suburb-free kind, more than any other job. The other 59 are local

  • a click on roof repairs costs advertisers about $8.90. A ranking is paid for in the work, not per click

The 64,110 covers 148 different searches, none naming a suburb, company or near me. Semrush AU, 5 Aug 2026.

Month 1 Month 6 Month 12 Months of steady work Where you rank
The early months look flat, then it climbs and doesn't fall back. Drawn to show the shape, not measured from results.

Quick wins first, the slog last.

Counts cover no-suburb searches. A leak repair counts as both leak and repair. The easy-first order skips what Semrush didn't score.

  • Roof replacement

The easiest of the five to rank for, at 9,760 searches a month. People read up before a re-roof. Be what they read.

  • Roof leak repair

7,830 searches a month, typed while a stain spreads across the ceiling. Nearly as easy to win, and they want someone today.

  • Metal roofing

The second biggest: 15,920 searches a month across 37 different phrasings, and Colorbond gets asked for by name.

  • Roof repairs

The biggest by far at 30,290 searches a month across every repair phrasing, and the hardest to crack. The three above bring in work while this one builds.

  • Roof restoration

Four in five restoration searches name a suburb, a company or near me. Those are won on your Google profile: local SEO for roofers.

Twenty-two ways to ask the price.

People ask Google what a roof costs before they ring a roofer. Hardly any websites answer, so the one that does gets read first.

  • Asked in plain words

"Roof restoration cost" gets 880 searches a month. "Roof replacement cost" gets 720. Typed exactly like that.

  • Next to no competition

On Semrush's difficulty score out of 100, all 22 sit at 15 or under, and most are below 7. Wide open.

  • Answered with ranges

The page gives honest ranges and what shifts them: pitch, access, material. They get a number, you get the enquiry.

These pages sit beside the five above, and the people they pull in are already pricing a roof job.

Two searches, one word apart.

"Roof restoration" is scored 60 for difficulty. Add the word "cost" and it drops to 6. Same roof, a fraction of the fight.

Hear from trade businesses we've worked with

Why work with us.

Plenty of agencies sell marketing to tradies. Here's what's different about how we do it.

  • A track record you can check

Our clients are named on this website with their real numbers, so you can see what we've actually done before you spend a dollar.

  • The plan shows its sums

Nothing goes in the plan on a hunch. Every target has real search numbers behind it, dated, like the ones on this page.

  • Plain-English reporting

Each month we tell you what we did, what changed, and what's next. If a number goes backwards, we say so and say why.

For every size of trade business

Ranking on Google solves a different problem at each stage. Find the crew that sounds like yours.

  • 1-3 on the crew

    Starter

Word of mouth fills most weeks, then one falls over without warning. Ranking in search flips it: work starts finding you.

  • 4-9 on the crew

    Growing

A quiet week now costs wages, not just your time. Steady search enquiries let you plan the roster instead of patching it.

  • 10+ on the crew

    Established

The name's already known. Now every search in your area should end at you, with daylight back to second.

Roofer SEO questions?

See if we answered it below.

What's included in SEO for a roofing business?

A page for every kind of roof work you do, built to rank. We write them around what people really search, back them with roofs you've finished, and fix the technical side underneath. Then it's steady monthly upkeep so the rankings hold.

Should metal roofing get its own pages?

Yes, if you do metal work. 'Colorbond roof replacement' gets 590 searches a month and 'metal roof installation' another 480, and there are plenty more like them. We give the main ones their own pages, so whichever way it gets typed, your website is the answer.

How long before a roofing website ranks?

Most websites take a few months to land their first wins, and they arrive in the order this page lays out: replacement and leak first, the big repair searches last. You get a report from month one, so you watch it move rather than take our word for it.

What should a roofer budget for SEO?

We put a number on it after looking, not before. What moves it: how many kinds of roof work you want ranked, and how strong the websites already ranking are. You're never locked in, and you can see the market rates in our guide to SEO costs.

Does SEO actually work?

Our results are named on this website. Quick Mick's Plumbing, Blue Mountains: page one of Google for around 40 searches, about 10 new clients a month, no ad spend. This page is the same playbook, aimed at roof work.

Is commercial roof work worth a page?

Worth it if you already do commercial jobs. 'Commercial roof repairs' gets 590 searches a month, and at $9.10 it's the priciest click in the table above. The people typing it are property managers and owners' corporations, and one solid page is enough to start with.
