Locked-out clients call whoever they find first.
Local SEO for locksmiths
Nobody plans to need a locksmith. When it happens they grab their phone, search, and call the first business that looks real. We make that business yours.
What exactly is local SEO?
Local SEO means getting your business found on Google by people near you. When someone nearby searches for a locksmith, Google shows three business listings with stars and a call button before any website. Each one is a free listing Google gives a business (Google calls it a Google Business Profile). Local SEO is the work that gets your listing into those three. For a mobile trade with no shopfront, that listing is your shopfront.

When is local SEO worth it?
It suits locksmiths living on call-outs, where being the first business found is everything. It pays off when:
- "locksmith near me" runs about 22,200 searches a month in Australia, and lockouts never stop
- you drive to a real set of suburbs and want every one of them to show you first
- after-hours work matters to you: at 11pm, those three listings are the whole shortlist
The general version of this page is local SEO for tradies, and our Google Business Profile guide walks through setting up your Google listing yourself.
We know the numbers before we start.
"Locksmith near me" is searched about 22,200 times a month in Australia, one of the biggest "near me" searches of any trade. We count the searches across your suburbs before we start, so you know exactly which ones are worth going after.

Lachlan from King Tradie is the top G of tradie website design, development, and management. I've worked with many website agencies and individuals, and no one comes close to Lachlan's attention to detail and high-end quality. He doesn't waste your time asking the same questions; in fact, he did his own research and made the onboarding and entire website development process easy. I normally get myself too involved in projects, but I literally only had to show up for the photography session. Lachlan handled the rest. If you want to skip the time and money wasters, go with King Tradie.

Highly recommend Lachie from King Tradie! He built a new website for my construction business and made the entire process simple and stress-free. I was able to hand over the reins and trust him to take control of the design and development, while still keeping everything clearly explained throughout the process. The finished website looks professional, the quality is excellent, and I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Most importantly, Lachie allowed me to stay focused on running my business instead of spending valuable time trying to build a website myself. Great service from start to finish!

Why KINGTRADIE for your SEO?
-
Built for a speed trade
A lockout is decided in one search. Everything we set up, from your Google listing to how you collect reviews, is aimed at being the first business that search shows.
-
Your suburbs set up properly
Mobile trades get this wrong constantly. We set up the suburbs you cover the way Google wants, so you show up across all of them without Google treating your listing as spam.
-
Reviews matter in a 24-hour trade
Your star rating sits right next to your listing, so it is the first thing a stranger sees at midnight. We build the follow-up habit that turns every happy job into a review.
For every size of locksmith business
The same plan, sized to your vans.
- 1-3 on the crew
Starter
You and a van, living on call-outs. One properly set up Google listing in your area changes everything, because lockout work goes to whichever business Google shows first.
- 4-9 on the crew
Growing
More vans, more suburbs. We get you showing up suburb by suburb across all of them, so every van has work coming from the area it is already in.
- 10+ on the crew
Established
You cover the whole area. The job now is holding it: the first business shown in every suburb you list, a review count nobody catches, and the after-hours searches going to you.

Local SEO questions?
See if we answered it below.
What are the three businesses at the top of Google?
They are Google Business Profile listings: the three businesses with stars and a call button that Google shows before any website. For a lockout search they might as well be the whole page, because people can ring straight from there.
What's the difference between local SEO and SEO?
Local SEO is about your Google listing: the listing itself, your reviews and the suburbs you cover, aimed at "locksmith near me" searches. SEO is about your website coming up for the wider searches, like "car locksmith" or "rekey locks". For a call-out trade the listing usually pays first and the website builds on top. That side is SEO for tradies.
How much does local SEO cost?
It comes down to two things: how competitive your area is, and how much needs fixing to begin with. Local SEO is an ongoing monthly service rather than a one-off, because the listing, the reviews and the places your business details are listed across the web all need to keep moving. As a rough guide it usually runs in the low thousands a month for a small locksmith business, but the honest answer is that it should be scoped to your suburbs and where you're starting from, which we work out with you on a call. There's no lock-in.
Does local SEO actually work?
The results we point to are named on this website: Quick Mick's Plumbing takes about 10 new clients a month from being found on page one of Google, without ads. For a locksmith the same work aims at the three listings at the top, where the lockout calls land.
Can I do local SEO myself?
The basics, yes, and they're worth doing. Claim and fully fill out your Google listing with your real services, lockouts, rekeys, broken and jammed locks, car and auto keys, deadlock installs and 24/7 emergency call-outs, keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere online, and ask every happy client for a review. That alone puts a lot of locksmiths ahead. The harder part is the ongoing work: keeping your business details matching everywhere online, building a real page for each suburb, and keeping reviews coming while you're on the road. See our local SEO for tradies guide for the full picture.
How many suburbs can I show up in?
As a mobile trade you list the suburbs you cover instead of a shopfront address, and you can show up right across them. Keep the list honest, roughly what you'd actually drive to at 2am, because Google treats a padded list as spam. A locksmith with a tight, real list beats one claiming half the city.
How long does local SEO take?
First movement usually lands between 4 and 8 weeks, with busy city areas running 3 to 6 months. Locksmith searches also have a known spam problem, fake listings and business names stuffed with search words, which is good news for you: a clean, verified, well-reviewed listing stands out faster.
Is SEO dead in 2026?
For locksmiths, least dead of all. AI can't unlock a door. A lockout search ends one way, with a phone call within minutes, and the three listings at the top decide who it goes to.
